The Concept

The BlueFire “Churrascaria” concept has been strongly influenced by the traditional Brazilian custom of cooking various cuts of seasoned meat and seafood over an open fire. BlueFire has taken this concept and infused it with a modern Australian twist.

BlueFire’s Churrascaria area features huge skewers of your flame grilled favourites including: beef, calamari, chicken, lamb, swordfish & pork. It's carved right at your table until you say “no more!” The meats & seafood are complimented by grilled seasonal vegetables and chef’s selection of condiments.

An exciting a-la-carte menu is also available offering a large variety of oysters, mouth watering steaks, and seafood platters.

For a quick bite take a seat at the BlueFire pizza area. BlueFire’s pizzas have a traditional Mediterranean crispy base cooked to perfection in a wood fired oven. Toppings on offer include real cuts of meat and seafood and a range of pesto sauces. A variety of pasta dishes will also be available.

Lovers of Chocolate won’t be able to resist BlueFire’s “Hot Chocolate” Bar. This Coffee and Chocolate Bar is Melbourne's newest sweet-tooth sensation serving REAL hot chocolate - that is, pure quality chocolate melted down and served to you as a delicious hot beverage.

Hot Chocolate will also offer coffee, home made gelati and a huge array of the most exciting desserts you have ever seen. Indulge your taste buds at BlueFire’s “Hot Chocolate”.

History of the Churrascaria

Churrascaria means barbeque in Portuguese.
This style of cooking was developed in South Brazil. Tantalizing cuts of beef, chicken, pork and fish would be seasoned and barbecued on skewers over open fire pits by the ranchers, who were known as gauchos. They then carried the freshly cooked meats to the tables, and sliced juicy portions off the skewers on the plates. Each was free to choose from any or all of the meats.

In time, restaurants were opened offering the same style of food. The concept caught on quickly, and has now become a permanent fixture of Brazil.

Background: BlueFire at Docklands

BlueFire opened its first Churrascaria Grill & Bar along the NewQuay Promenade at Docklands in September 2004. Its opening success continued on as BlueFire is now one of NewQuay’s most popular venues. In 2005 BlueFire is set to expand with locations opening at Melbourne Central and Queensland
